Opex and Capex
Day-to-day operating spend, and capital spend on assets that last for years.
Opex (operating expenditure) is day-to-day spend such as fuel, travel and supplies, charged to profit as it happens. Capex (capital expenditure) buys assets that last for years, such as vehicles and equipment, and is depreciated over their life. In Vintage People every budget line is one or the other, the over-budget rules are set separately for each, and the budget dashboard has a Capex tracker.
