Deduction
Any amount removed from gross pay, whether statutory or voluntary.
A deduction is anything subtracted from gross pay to arrive at net pay. Statutory deductions (PAYE, pension, NHF) are required by law; voluntary deductions (loan repayments, cooperative savings, salary advances) are agreed with the employee.
