Set up salary structures & pay elements
Define what people earn once, assign it in bulk, and override per employee where needed.
A **pay element** is a single earning or deduction (basic, housing, an allowance, a loan). A **salary structure** (group) bundles elements with amounts, rates or formulas. You manage both under **Payroll setup**.
Assign a structure to an employee on their **Compensation** tab, or assign it to many at once with a preview before you commit. Each employee can have overrides where their pay differs from the group default.
Changes are effective-dated and apply to the next run, so you can prepare increases ahead of time without touching the current period.
